Is NorthStar an Asana, Monday, or ClickUp alternative?

No. Those are team Work OS tools. NorthStar is the practicing PM's personal execution list inside PMHub. If you need a company-wide board, that is a different job.

Can I assign tasks to teammates?

No. NorthStar is personal-use only. Tag work to a project so you see it on that project dashboard and on Smart Dashboard due, upcoming, and overdue cards.

Where do NorthStar tasks appear?

Tagged tasks appear on the project dashboard. Due-today, upcoming, and overdue tasks also appear on Smart Dashboard, so your follow-through stays visible after you leave the task list.

Does a task link to the RAID item or note it came from?

Not as a deep-link. RAID, Atlas, stakeholders, and Blueprint live in the same workspace; you open those modules separately. What connects is project tagging to the project dashboard and due-today, upcoming, and overdue cards.

Why not keep this in Excel or a todo app?

Fine for a private list that never has to show up on the project. NorthStar is for personal follow-through that is already tagged to the engagement and visible on the project dashboard.

Question 7

Do I have to run sprints? Are there subtasks?

Accepted Answer

No sprints. Statuses are Not Started, In Progress, Blocked, and Complete. No subtask trees. Recurring tasks cover repeat work without nesting.

What does Professional add for NorthStar?

Higher limits (see Free vs Professional on the pricing page), plus work hours: time per project with week and month summaries. Kanban and list are on Free.
